A new team take home the trophy!!

The sun fought its way through the clouds on Saturday 15th September for our 12th annual tag rugby tournament in Railway Union sports club.

This year six competitive teams battled it out for the highly sought after perpetual cup; RBS, HSBC, PWC and Pioneer Investments all submitted a team; Deutsche Bank and UBS were unable to send players this year but their teams were filled by keen PWC and Pioneer Investments players! It was an exciting day of rugby which saw HSBC in the final again this year against the very strong ‘London – Irish’ Pioneer Investments team. The ‘London Irish’ team played fiercely but ultimately it was HSBC who won the trophy by just 15 points to 14. Congratulations to all the players and particularly to the winning team HSBC!

The sunshine held out and the rain stayed at bay allowing us to enjoy post-match banter (and laughs) outdoors. The very hungry bunch of players enjoyed the BBQ and prize giving in the clubhouse. Sebastiano Bazzoni, Rob Richardson & Andrew Arbuthnott presented the prizes to the winners of each category...UBS took home the wooden spoon for the second year in a row and PWC Rockets took the wooden bowl. Congrats to man of the match Colm Smith (HSBC) and lady of the match Rachel Bagnall (UBS team).

Thank you to everyone who supported the Tournament and charity. We raised in excess of €17k and as Sebastiano noted on Saturday, all monies raised go directly to the essential work on the ground in Zimbabwe. The crisis there remains as urgent as ever.
